Learn about the public hearings, an essential part of the inquiry process in which relevant evidence is presented and made public.

Purpose of the Public Hearings

The public hearings are an important milestone in the Commission’s investigation and a requirement under its mandate, to investigate the commercial and technical circumstances that led to Stage 1 breakdowns and derailments of the Ottawa Light Rail Transit system. Commission counsel and Participants will present relevant evidence related to the questions posed in the Commission’s Terms of Reference.

Dates, Times, Location and Schedule of the Public Hearings

The Commission will hold hearings in Ottawa from June 13, 2022, to July 8, 2022, at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law – Common Law Section, in its Ian G. Scott Courtroom. Hearings will start at 9 a.m. No hearings during the weekend and on July 1st (Canada Day).

During the hearings, key witnesses representing the parties involved in the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project – Stage 1, will testify under oath. Witnesses may testify in person or remotely.

How to Watch the Hearings

The hearings will be open for the public and media to attend and watch.

The public can watch the hearings via livestream in English, French or both in large auditoriums near the hearing room in Fauteux Hall (57 Louis Pasteur). The public are advised to take the elevator or stairs until floor 3 to access the auditoriums, which have three language options.

The media will have onsite access to the press room adjacent to the hearing room to watch the hearings (100 Thomas More Private)

The livestream will be made available on the Commission’s website in both English and French.

The hearings will also be broadcast on Rogers TV, channels 470 in English and 471 in French.


The public hearings will be live streamed with simultaneous English and French interpretation and captioning, and all recordings will remain available on the Commission’s website.


Transcripts of the daily proceedings will be posted and be made available on the Commission’s website within 48 hours of their conclusion.
